Biography

Margaret Foster was a Cambridge graduate who was recruited into the Special Operations Executive (SOE) in 1942. She was parachuted into occupied France in 1943, where she served as a wireless operator for the Resistance network. She transmitted over 400 coded messages to London while evading the Gestapo for 14 months. After liberation she returned to Cambridge and worked as a librarian at the University Library, rarely speaking of her wartime experiences.
