Biography
Lyudmila Nikolaevna Orlova served as a ground crew chief for the 586th Fighter Aviation Regiment, one of the all-female aviation units. She maintained Yak-1 and Yak-9 fighters, ensuring they were combat-ready for each mission. Her technical expertise saved many pilots' lives. After the war she became an engineer at the Zhukovsky Aviation Institute. She moved to Cambridge in 2002.

Людмила Николаевна Орлова служила старшим техником в 586-м истребительном авиационном полку — одном из женских авиаподразделений. Она обслуживала истребители Як-1 и Як-9, обеспечивая их боеготовность. Её техническое мастерство спасло жизни многих лётчиков. После войны работала инженером в ЦАГИ. Переехала в Кембридж в 2002 году.
