Biography
Able Seaman Liam McCarthy from Belfast served aboard HMS Belfast during the Arctic Convoy operations. He endured the brutal conditions of the Barents Sea, delivering vital supplies to the Soviet Union. He was killed when his escort vessel was torpedoed during Convoy JW 55A in December 1943, just days before the Battle of the North Cape. His name is inscribed on the Portsmouth Naval Memorial.

Матрос Лиам Маккарти из Белфаста служил на борту HMS Belfast во время операций Арктических конвоев. Он выдерживал жестокие условия Баренцева моря, доставляя жизненно важные грузы в Советский Союз.
