Biography
Lieutenant Lachlan Campbell from the Highlands, studying at Glasgow University when war broke out, joined No. 4 Commando. He participated in the disastrous Dieppe Raid of August 1942, one of the few units to achieve its objectives that day — destroying a German coastal battery. He then trained for two years for D-Day, landing on Sword Beach on 6 June 1944. He was killed in action during the fierce fighting at Bréville in Normandy on 12 June, helping to secure the eastern flank of the beachhead. He was awarded a posthumous Military Cross.

Лейтенант Лахлан Кэмпбелл с Хайленда учился в Университете Глазго, когда началась война, и вступил в 4-й коммандос. Участвовал в рейде на Дьепп в августе 1942 года. Высадился на пляже Сворд 6 июня 1944 года. Погиб в бою при Бревиле 12 июня, помогая обеспечить восточный фланг плацдарма. Посмертно награждён Военным крестом.
