Biography
Krystyna Skarbek (Christine Granville) was Poland's most celebrated female spy and one of SOE's longest-serving agents. She smuggled intelligence out of occupied Poland, skied over the Tatra Mountains to escape the Gestapo, and parachuted into occupied France before D-Day. In one legendary exploit, she bluffed a Gestapo officer into releasing three captured SOE agents by claiming Allied forces were about to arrive. Churchill called her his favourite spy. A London Polish community registered her profile.
