Biography

My great-grandfather was born in 1903. He lived in the city of Fatezh in the Kursk region with his wife Antonina Ivanovna Kosilova and had three children. For unknown reasons, he found himself in Kazakhstan during the first year of the Great Patriotic War. He was drafted into the Red Army by the Leninsky District Military Commissariat, Kazakh SSR, Karaganda Region, Leninsky District, Karaganda. He was assigned to the 362nd Rifle Regiment of the 315th Rifle Division. On June 1, 1942, he was stationed in the city of Kamyshin in the Stalingrad region and until August 16, 1942, he was engaged in combat training as part of the 8th Reserve Army. From August 16 to August 22, 1942, he was on the Stalingrad Front, on August 23 he took part in battles in the Orlovka-Gorodishche area and until October 2, 1942, he fought as part of the 62nd Army. From December 13, 1942, as part of the 5th Shock Army, he fought against the retreating enemy from the Don River to the Mius River. He died on January 11, 1943, in the Tatsinsky District of the Rostov Region and was buried in a mass grave. Мой прадедушка родился в 1903 году. Он жил в городе Фатеж Курской области со своей женой Антониной Ивановной Косиловой и имел троих детей. По неизвестным причинам в первый год Великой Отечественной войны он оказался в Казахстане. Был призван в ряды Красной Армии Ленинским РВК, Казахская ССР, Карагандинская область, Ленинский район, г. Караганда. И попал в 362-й стрелковый полк 315-й стрелковой дивизии. 1 июня 1942 года был расквартирован в городе Камышин Сталинградской области и до 16 августа 1942 года занимался боевой подготовкой в составе 8-й резервной армии. С 16 августа по 22 августа 1942 года находился на Сталинградском фронте, 23 августа участвовал в боях в районе Орловка-Городище и до 2 октября 1942 года воевал в составе 62-й армии. С 13 декабря 1942 года в составе 5-й ударной армии сражался с отступающим противником от реки Дон до реки Миус. Погиб 11 января 1943 года в Ростовской области, Тацинский район и похоронен в братской могиле. Посмертно награжден медалью за оборону Сталинграда
