Josephine Butler

Josephine Butler worked in the top-secret Western Approaches Command bunker beneath Derby House in Liverpool. She was one of the Wren plotters who tracked convoy and U-boat movements across the Atlantic on the huge wall map in the Operations Room. Her work helped coordinate the anti-submarine campaign that ultimately won the Battle of the Atlantic. The bunker is now open as a museum.
