Biography
Captain Frederic "Johnny" Walker was the Royal Navy's most successful U-boat hunter, sinking or helping to sink more German submarines than any other Allied commander. Based in Liverpool, his 2nd Support Group pioneered aggressive anti-submarine tactics including the "creeping attack."Walker died of a cerebral thrombosis in July 1944, exhausted by the strain of continuous operations. Liverpool gave him a funeral with full naval honours.
