Biography
Sergeant Jock Campbell from Edinburgh served with the legendary 7th Armoured Division, the Desert Rats, throughout the North African campaign. He fought at Tobruk, El Alamein, and the long pursuit across Libya to Tunisia. His tank crew knocked out three German panzers at El Alamein in a single engagement. After North Africa, the Desert Rats fought through Normandy to Hamburg. Jock returned to Edinburgh and worked as a bus driver, rarely speaking about the war until a reunion in the 1990s brought old comrades together.
