Biography
Major James Whitfield led a company of the Ox and Bucks Light Infantry in the assault on Pegasus Bridge on D-Day. The operation to seize the bridge over the Caen Canal was one of the first actions of the invasion. He was killed in subsequent fighting near Breville in June 1944.

Майор Джеймс Уитфилд командовал ротой Оксфордширского и Бакингемширского лёгкого пехотного полка при штурме моста Пегас в День Д. Операция по захвату моста через Канский канал была одним из первых действий вторжения. Он погиб в последующих боях под Бревилем в июне 1944 года.
