Biography
James Kwame Asante was born in the Gold Coast (now Ghana) and enlisted in the Royal West African Frontier Force. He fought in the Burma campaign as part of the 81st West African Division, serving in the Arakan offensive and the advance on Mandalay. After the war, he settled in the Liverpool community of Toxteth, joining a vibrant West African diaspora. He worked on merchant ships for many years and was an active member of the local veterans' association until his death.

Джеймс Кваме Асанте родился на Золотом Берегу (ныне Гана) и записался в Королевские Западноафриканские пограничные войска. Он воевал в Бирманской кампании в составе 81-й Западноафриканской дивизии, участвуя в наступлении в Аракане и продвижении к Мандалаю. После войны обосновался в ливерпульском районе Токстет. Работал на торговых судах и был активным членом местной ассоциации ветеранов.
