Biography
Corporal James Edward Fletcher from Nottingham served with the Parachute Regiment. He fought at Arnhem during Operation Market Garden in September 1944 — the famous "bridge too far" — and was one of the survivors who escaped back across the Rhine after the battle. He later served in the Rhine crossing in March 1945. He lived to 93 and was a regular at Remembrance Day services.
