Biography
Ivy Cartwright worked as a quality inspector at the BSA (Birmingham Small Arms) factory in Small Heath, checking Browning machine guns and Lee-Enfield rifles. When the factory was bombed in November 1940, killing 53 workers, she helped rescue colleagues and was back at work the next day.
