Biography
Private Isaac Goldstein was born in Minsk and emigrated to London with his family in 1933, fleeing rising antisemitism. He enlisted in the Jewish Brigade Group, the only Jewish military formation to fight as an independent unit in the Second World War. He served in Italy from 1944 and later helped organise the rescue of Holocaust survivors through the Brichah movement. His entire extended family who remained in Belarus perished in the Holocaust.

Рядовой Исаак Гольдштейн родился в Минске и эмигрировал в Лондон с семьёй в 1933 году, спасаясь от нарастающего антисемитизма. Он записался в Еврейскую бригаду — единственное еврейское военное формирование, сражавшееся как самостоятельное подразделение во Второй мировой войне. Служил в Италии с 1944 года и позже помогал организовывать спасение выживших в Холокосте через движение Бриха. Вся его расширенная семья, оставшаяся в Белоруссии, погибла в Холокосте.
