Biography
Section Officer Gwyneth Powell served in the Women's Auxiliary Air Force (WAAF) at RAF Bomber Command headquarters. Born in Cardiff, she joined the WAAF in 1942 at age 18. She worked as a plotter in the operations room, tracking bomber formations as they flew missions over occupied Europe. Her work involved calculating fuel loads, bomb weights, and routing for hundreds of bombers. She later transferred to No. 4 Group, where she helped coordinate night bombing operations. After the war, she returned to Cardiff and worked as a civil servant.
