Biography
Wing Commander Guy Gibson VC led the legendary Dambusters Raid on 16-17 May 1943, one of the most audacious operations of the war. At just 24 years old, he commanded 617 Squadron on Operation Chastise, personally attacking the Möhne Dam while drawing fire away from other aircraft by making repeated low-level passes.Gibson was killed on 19 September 1944 when his Mosquito crashed near Steenbergen in the Netherlands during a marking mission. He was only 26. His Victoria Cross citation praised his "personal bravery that knew no bounds."

Уинг-коммандер Гай Гибсон возглавил легендарный рейд «Разрушителей плотин» 16-17 мая 1943 года. В возрасте 24 лет он лично атаковал плотину Мёне. Погиб 19 сентября 1944 года.
