Biography

Sergeant Grace Adekunle, born in Liverpool to a Nigerian father and English mother, served in the ATS as a telephonist at Western Command headquarters. She was one of very few mixed-heritage women in the service. Despite facing prejudice from some quarters, she rose to sergeant and was praised for her coolness during air raids when she kept communication lines open. After the war she became a social worker in Liverpool, advocating for the rights of the city's diverse community.

Сержант Грейс Адекунле, родившаяся в Ливерпуле от отца-нигерийца и английской матери, служила телефонисткой в ATS в штабе Западного командования. Она была одной из немногих женщин смешанного происхождения на службе. После войны стала социальным работником.
