Biography
Captain Frederick William Cole from Southampton served with the Long Range Desert Group in North Africa, conducting deep-penetration raids behind enemy lines across the Sahara. The LRDG operated hundreds of miles behind enemy lines, gathering intelligence and attacking supply dumps. He was killed in action in the Aegean in 1944 during operations against German-held islands.
