Biography
Chief Petty Officer Frederick Taylor was serving aboard the battleship HMS Barham when she was torpedoed by U-331 in the Mediterranean on 25 November 1941. The ship capsized and her magazines exploded, killing 862 of her crew. The sinking was filmed and the dramatic footage remains one of the most well-known naval images of the war. Frederick's family in Belfast has preserved his memory.
