Biography
Private Fred Taylor was evacuated from Dunkirk in June 1940 aboard one of the famous "little ships" — a pleasure yacht crewed by its civilian owner. He had been part of the rearguard defending the perimeter and was one of the last to be evacuated. Despite the trauma of Dunkirk, Fred volunteered for D-Day and landed at Sword Beach in June 1944. He fought through to VE Day and always said he was fighting to make sure nobody else would have to experience another Dunkirk. He lived in Liverpool until his death in 1997.

Рядовой Фред Тейлор был эвакуирован из Дюнкерка в июне 1940 года на одном из знаменитых «маленьких кораблей». Несмотря на травму Дюнкерка, он добровольно участвовал в Дне Д, высадившись на Сворд-Бич. Жил в Ливерпуле до 1997 года.
