Biography
Warrant Officer Evan Price served with the Welsh Guards, fighting from Normandy to the Rhine. Born in Tiger Bay, Cardiff, he enlisted in 1937 and was among the first Welsh Guards to land in France on D-Day+3. Price fought through the bocage country of Normandy, the liberation of Brussels, and Operation Market Garden at Eindhoven. He was awarded the Military Medal for leading his platoon through an ambush near Hechtel in September 1944, rescuing three wounded men under enemy fire. After the war, he became a steelworker at the East Moors Steelworks in Cardiff.
