Nurse Elsie McCormack from Walton, Liverpool served with Queen Alexandra's nurses in field hospitals across North Africa and Italy. She treated casualties from El Alamein, the Tunisian campaign, and the Italian advance. She was mentioned in despatches for her courage under fire at Anzio.
