Biography
Sergeant Eileen Cooper served with the Women's Land Army from 1941, working on farms across East Anglia. The "Land Girls" were essential to feeding Britain during the war, replacing the men who had gone to fight. Eileen drove tractors, milked cows, and ploughed fields in all weathers. She received the Women's Land Army badge for four years' service. She lived in Cambridge after the war.
