Biography
Pilot Officer Edward Murphy flew with 617 Squadron — the "Dambusters." He participated in Operation Chastise on 16-17 May 1943, attacking the Ruhr dams with bouncing bombs. His Lancaster was shot down by flak. Of 133 aircrew, 53 were killed. His family in Belfast commemorates him annually.
