Biography
Petty Officer Wren Edith Cavell-Webb served at the Western Approaches Command headquarters in Liverpool, the nerve centre of the Battle of the Atlantic. She worked as a plotter in the underground operations room, tracking convoy movements and U-boat positions on the vast Atlantic map. Her precision work helped direct escorts to threatened convoys and contributed to closing the mid-Atlantic gap. She transferred to Leeds after the war and worked in telecommunications.
