Biography

Wing Commander Dorothy Garrod, already distinguished as the first woman to hold a Cambridge professorship, served in the RAF Photographic Interpretation Unit at RAF Medmenham. Her expertise in analysing aerial photographs helped identify German fortifications, V-weapon sites, and damage from bombing raids. The interpretation work at Medmenham was critical to planning the D-Day invasion and targeting V-1 and V-2 launch sites. A Birmingham academic history society registered her profile.
