Sub Lieutenant Dorothy Fenwick, an Oxford graduate in modern languages, served as a signals intelligence officer in the WRNS at Western Approaches Command in Liverpool. She interpreted decoded U-boat signals to help route Atlantic convoys away from submarine wolf packs.
