Dorothy Campbell

Dorothy Campbell served in the Women's Royal Naval Service at Western Approaches Command HQ in Liverpool, the nerve centre for the Battle of the Atlantic. She worked in the plotting room, tracking convoy positions and U-boat sightings across the Atlantic on a massive wall map. Her meticulous work helped route convoys around known U-boat wolf packs, saving thousands of lives and tonnes of vital supplies. After the war she remained in Liverpool and became a schoolteacher, later volunteering at the Western Approaches Museum.
