Biography

Doris Satchwell worked at the Austin Shadow Factory in Longbridge, Birmingham, building Stirling bomber fuselage sections. Starting as a riveter at age 17, she rose to Charge Hand supervising a team of 40 women. The factory was a prime Luftwaffe target—she survived the November 1940 Birmingham Blitz that killed over 2,200 people. By war's end, her team had helped produce components for over 3,000 aircraft.

Дорис Сатчвелл работала на теневом заводе Austin в Лонгбридже, Бирмингем, собирая секции фюзеляжа бомбардировщиков «Стирлинг». Начав клёпальщицей в 17 лет, она выросла до бригадира, руководя командой из 40 женщин. Завод был главной целью Люфтваффе — она пережила ноябрьский Блиц 1940 года.
