Dmitry Ustinov became People's Commissar of Armaments at the age of 33, overseeing the relocation of 1,523 factories eastward beyond the Urals — one of the greatest industrial feats in history. Under his leadership, Soviet weapons production not only recovered from the catastrophic losses of 1941 but exceeded German output by 1943. He ensured the mass production of the T-34 tank, the Katyusha rocket launcher, and the Il-2 Sturmovik. An Oxford economic history researcher registered his profile.
