Biography
Marine Charles Robert Mason served with the Royal Marine Commandos during the D-Day landings on Sword Beach on 6 June 1944. He fought through Normandy and participated in the crossing of the Rhine in March 1945. Wounded twice during the campaign, he was awarded the Military Medal for gallantry. He retired to Brighton where he was a regular speaker at schools about the D-Day landings.
