Biography
Flight Sergeant Charles Edward King from Nottingham was a wireless operator and air gunner with 44 (Rhodesia) Squadron, RAF Bomber Command. He flew 28 operations over occupied Europe — just two short of completing his tour — before his Lancaster was shot down over the Ruhr on 22 June 1943. He was 26 years old. His name is inscribed on the Runnymede Memorial.
