Bridget O'Connor

Ensign Bridget O'Connor served with the First Aid Nursing Yeomanry, which despite its name was closely involved with the Special Operations Executive. Bridget worked as a signals operator at SOE's Station 53 in Grendon Underwood, handling coded wireless transmissions from agents in occupied Europe. She was part of the team that maintained contact with the French Resistance in the critical months before D-Day. After the war, bound by the Official Secrets Act, she returned to Belfast and said nothing of her extraordinary wartime work for over fifty years.
