Biography

Arthur Morrison served as Third Officer aboard SS Empire Heritage, one of many merchant vessels that kept Britain supplied during the darkest days of the war. His ship was torpedoed in the North Atlantic in September 1944, and Arthur spent twelve hours in the freezing water before being rescued. Despite this traumatic experience, he returned to sea within weeks. After the war he settled in Liverpool and worked at the docks, rarely speaking of his wartime ordeal.
