Biography
Sergeant Anna Popova served in a Soviet anti-aircraft battery defending Leningrad during the 872-day siege. Her unit shot down several German aircraft attempting to bomb the city. She survived the siege despite severe malnutrition and frostbite. After the war she studied engineering. She emigrated to Liverpool in 2001 to join her daughter's family.

Сержант Анна Попова служила в зенитной батарее, защищавшей Ленинград во время 872-дневной блокады. Её расчёт сбил несколько немецких самолётов. Пережила блокаду. Эмигрировала в Ливерпуль в 2001 году.
