Biography
Angus McDonald served with No. 4 Commando, one of the elite units that spearheaded the D-Day landings. He landed at Sword Beach on 6 June 1944 as part of the first wave and helped secure the vital bridges over the Orne River. No. 4 Commando also included French troops from the Kieffer Commando — the only Free French unit to participate in D-Day. Angus fought through Normandy and into Germany, ending the war near the Baltic coast. He returned to Edinburgh and worked in the brewing industry.
