Lieutenant Colonel Anatoly Petrov was one of the most decorated tank officers of the war. He commanded a tank battalion in the 1st Guards Tank Brigade from the Battle of Moscow in 1941 through to the fall of Berlin in 1945. At Kursk, his battalion destroyed 14 German tanks in a single engagement. He was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union for his actions during Operation Bagration in 1944, when his unit broke through heavily fortified German positions in Belorussia. After the war, he worked as a military instructor and emigrated to Britain in 1975, settling in Birmingham.

Подполковник Анатолий Петров был одним из наиболее награждённых танковых офицеров войны. Командовал танковым батальоном в 1-й гвардейской танковой бригаде от битвы за Москву в 1941 году до взятия Берлина в 1945. Под Курском его батальон уничтожил 14 немецких танков в одном бою. Удостоен звания Героя Советского Союза за действия во время операции «Багратион» в 1944 году. После войны эмигрировал в Великобританию в 1975 году, поселился в Бирмингеме.
