Alistair MacGregor, 1918-2001, is recorded as a Royal Air Force flight lieutenant who returned to Glasgow after the war and ran the family engineering business.
The account previously held here placed him with 602 (City of Glasgow) Squadron in the Battle of Britain, credited him with five victories, and had him shot down over France in 1943 and brought home through Spain by the Resistance. Tested in October 2026 against the complete roll of the Battle of Britain Clasp, the Battle placement is not supported: 602 Squadron's thirty-four Battle of Britain aircrew include no MacGregor, and none of the five men of that surname on the roll served with 602 or was named Alistair.
The Battle claim has been withdrawn rather than replaced. The later evasion account rests on nothing citable and has been withdrawn with it.
