Biography
Alistair Grant from Kelvinside, Glasgow served aboard the submarine HMS Thorn. He participated in patrols in the Mediterranean, sinking enemy supply ships bound for North Africa. HMS Thorn was lost with all hands in August 1942, believed to have been sunk by depth charges from an Italian corvette off the coast of Crete. All 64 crew were lost. He is commemorated on the Portsmouth Naval Memorial.
