Biography
Alexei Pavlovich Sorokin served in the Soviet Northern Fleet, escorting Arctic convoys from the Murmansk end. He served aboard destroyer escorts that protected the convoys from German U-boats and aircraft as they approached Soviet waters. After the war, he emigrated to Scotland in the 1970s through family connections and settled in Glasgow. He was a regular participant in Arctic convoy commemorations at the Clyde and maintained friendships with British convoy veterans until his death in 2005.

Алексей Павлович Сорокин служил в Северном флоте СССР, сопровождая арктические конвои со стороны Мурманска. Он служил на эсминцах, защищавших конвои от немецких подводных лодок и авиации при подходе к советским водам. После войны он эмигрировал в Шотландию в 1970-х годах и поселился в Глазго. Он был постоянным участником церемоний памяти арктических конвоев на Клайде.
