Biography
Corporal Albert Collins was a factory worker from Aston before the war. His exceptional marksmanship during training led to him being selected as a sniper with the Royal Warwickshire Regiment. He served in Normandy and through the advance into Germany, where his skills saved many lives by neutralising enemy snipers and machine gun positions. Albert rarely spoke about his wartime role after returning to Birmingham, where he went back to work at the BSA factory and spent weekends tending his allotment.
