Biography
Ronald Pemberton was a mathematician from Trinity College, Cambridge, who was recruited to Bletchley Park in 1940. He worked in Hut 8 on naval Enigma decryption, contributing to breaking the codes that protected German U-boat communications. His work helped save countless lives in the Battle of the Atlantic. After the war he returned to Cambridge as a Fellow and lectured in pure mathematics until 1979. The full extent of his wartime work remained classified until the 1990s.
