Biography
Squadron Leader Alan Charles Pemberton was one of "The Few" who flew Hurricanes with 56 Squadron during the Battle of Britain in the summer of 1940. He shot down five confirmed enemy aircraft and was awarded the DFC and Bar. After the war he became a lecturer in engineering at Cambridge University, where he inspired generations of students until his retirement in 1979.
