Biography
Captain Alan Brooke served in the Intelligence Corps, specialising in interrogation of prisoners of war. A Cambridge graduate fluent in German, he landed in Normandy shortly after D-Day. His interrogation of captured German officers provided valuable tactical intelligence during the advance through France and into Germany. After the war, he returned to Cambridge and became a lecturer in Modern Languages.
