Tikhon Naumovich Aksyonov

Tikhon Naumovich Aksyonov was awarded the Order of the Red Star, the Order of the Patriotic War 2nd Class, medals "For Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945", "For Victory over Japan", "For Valour", and many jubilee medals for Victory Day. He took part in combat and killed an enemy soldier. Then the enemy blew them up. The unit in which my great-grandfather served cut off a group of fascists who were trying to link up with Paulus at Stalingrad. My great-grandfather was wounded in the spine. Thirteen shell fragments were removed from his body. One fragment remained near his heart, and he lived with it for the rest of his life.
