About this Event
<p>A solemn memorial concert honouring the 30,000+ British Merchant Navy sailors who gave their lives during the war. Southampton, as Britain's premier port, lost more merchant seafarers per capita than any other city. The programme includes naval hymns, readings from merchant seamen's diaries, and a performance by the Band of HM Royal Marines. A wreath-laying ceremony at the Merchant Navy Memorial on the waterfront follows the concert.</p>
